Some listeners describe Stephanie Kinsey’s piano performances as “soothing” or “relaxing”, while others have considered it “just magical”. Music brings her a joy that she willingly shares with others.
Stephanie began piano lessons at the age of five and along the way added organ lessons so she could play for church services. While her musical background is in classical music, Stephanie has developed improvisational abilities that have helped her in composing and arranging. During high school she won a statewide California competition for best original composition.
In June 2000, Stephanie graduated from Pacific Union College in the Napa Valley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations. She studied organ performance there with Dr. Del Case and performed on the Pacific Union College Church organ – the largest of its kind on the west coast.
Other venues have included playing background music at various events like Christmas parties, social occasions, and in hotel lobbies. Since the fall of 1999, she has performed, through agencies, at various wineries and resorts, such as Silverado Country Club, Robert Mondavi Winery, Clos Pegase Winery, Culinary Institute of America, Niebaum-Coppola Estate Winery (Napa); the Carnelian Room, Fairmont Hotel, Mark Hopkins, Splendido Restaurant (San Francisco); Bridges Country Club (San Ramon); and Claremont Resort & Spa (Berkeley).
Stephanie is currently serving as the Music Director at the Ygnacio Valley Presbyterian Church, the wedding organist at the Oakland Greek Orthodox Cathedral, and performs as a guest organist/pianist at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Sonoma and at other churches of various denominations all over the Bay Area. She also enjoys working with kids as a music teacher for grades K-10 as well as a piano teacher.
Her repertoire includes classical and broadway music and ranges from recent popular hits to movie tunes.
